There's a mail-in rebate on ACDelco plugs. I always like to use OE parts when the price is reasonable. Both fit and work but only the first one is OE. It's not too different from choosing an ACDelco classic oil filter vs a FRAM. GM could've used Autolites or some other at probably lower cost but chose the NGK design. You know it not just fits exactly right but is also the exact same heat range and durability has been verified. But the way I look at it is I'd rather have the OE plug (or in this case, also the NGK) for my own vehicle or where possible. Factory diagrams are much harder to read.I don't think there's anything wrong with Autolite or Champion plugs. offers redrawn diagrams as well as factory diagrams. That saves a lot of time because you don’t have to refer back to the component locator or circuit locations. redraws factory wiring diagrams in color and includes the component, splice and ground locations right in their diagrams. If you’re tracking down a wiring issue, is the better choice. In most cases, their diagrams are right from the factory manuals.

When the DIYer or professional tech went to remove the spark plugs, they would often rip the threads right out of the cylinder head. The dissimilar metals went through a galvanic reaction where metal transferred and welded the spark plugs to the head. The problem got even worse as carmakers switched to aluminum cylinder heads.
When carmakers switched to platinum-tipped spark plugs that lasted up to 100,000 miles, spark plugs started to seize in the cylinder heads. Platinum spark plugs and aluminum heads changed everything Plus, they were similar materials-steel and cast iron. The spark plugs never stayed in the engine long enough to seize in the cylinder head. In the old days when engines and cylinder heads were made from cast iron and copper spark plugs only lasted 12,000 miles, there was no need for anti-seize. In the OLD DAYS, Copper spark plugs never needed anti-seize If the spark plug has a black oxide finish, it has NOT been coated at the factory and you should apply a very small amount of anti-seize to the threads
